Professor Zhenyou Li received his Ph.D. in Material Science from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2016, during which he spent two years as a visiting scholar at Heidelberg University in Germany. Following his doctoral studies, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology before promoting to project PI and habilitand at the Helmholtz Institute Ulm and Ulm University. In 2023, he joined the Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), where he established the Multivalent Battery Research Group. His research focuses on developing next-generation electrochemical energy storage technologies, with particular interest in multivalent metal (calcium, magnesium) batteries and sodium-ion batteries. His research has been supported by prestigious funding sources including the German Research Foundation (DFG) through the Cluster of Excellence POLiS, the CAS "Hundred Talents Program" and the Major Research Plan of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has published over 60 papers in leading scientific journals such asNature Communications,Energy & Environmental Science, andAngewandte Chemie International Edition. He is a member of the New Energy Materials Development Working Committee of the Chinese Nonferrous Metals Society, as well as a member of the State Key Laboratory of Solar Energy Conversion and Utilization and the Shandong Engineering Technology Center of Deep-Sea Power Systems.
